Hello! My name is Sean Bumstead- owner of Bumstead Guitars, LLC. We are a Michigan based electric guitar Company, whose popularity is growing at a steady pace.

First and foremost, I want to thank you for taking the time to review this website. I realize that if you’ve gotten this far into the site, then you’ve seen our guitar line-up and are seeking more information about the company.

Some of you might be asking yourself, “Why did this guy decide to build and sell guitars?” Well, like many of you, I could not justify the cost of the higher-end mainstream brand guitars and as a result, I began building my own. It wasn't long after I started that I discovered that I like building and customizing guitars as much as I like playing them.

It was almost by accident that a business started to grow out of what I considered to be a hobby. In a short period of time, demand for my electric guitars started to increase. Additionally, I learned that many folks felt the same as I had about the rising cost for a solid electric. People who were buying my guitars were in the market for something that was reasonably affordable, they would be proud to own and would enjoy playing for a lifetime. In short people want an instrument that they can invest in without having to invest two, three or four months salary into.

Taking a break from building guitars, I began building relationships with smaller, independent part manufactures and suppliers all around the globe. A year later I had established a solid network of resources that I could leverage to consistently build first-in-class electric guitars.

Today Bumstead Guitars breaks the mold by not being another OEM knock-off out of Korea or China. Our guitars are designed here in Michigan and manufactured to our strict specifications in Germany! The overall quality and superior structure of our guitars is immediately evident.

The attraction of Bumstead Guitars is its value for the dollar. The company’s guitars are loaded with features generally found on more expensive guitars coming from the big brand custom shops. Our guitars typically include high-tonal quality pickups, 6-way selection switching, advance tone & effect circuitry, premium woods and bright nitrocellulose lacquer finishes.

Biography

Mr. Bumstead was raised for the most of his youth in the small town of Stanwood, Michigan, which is 40 minutes north of Grand Rapids. It was here that his parents over the years owned and operated several businesses, including a family restaurant, party store, and sportsman's shop. This dynamic ultimately cultivated an entrepreneurial outlook on life and gave him a solid understanding for the principles that make up free enterprise, business management and customer relations.

Soon after completing high school, he enrolled at Ferris State University, where he excelled through the institutions curriculum, graduating with degrees in both Technical Illustration and Communication Technology. He later went on to secure his graduate degree in the field of eCommerce, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

His ability to understand complex technical designs and his passion for newly emerging computer technologies led him to the Detroit metropolitan area. It was here that he accepted a position within an illustration engineering and design firm. Leveraging cutting edge Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems, he architected detailed concept illustrations and models for Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick and General Dynamics.

Over the years Mr. Bumstead went on to work for a variety of industries including automotive, military, manufacturing and advertising. At each he increased his knowledge and understanding for computer and networking technologies and took on greater levels of responsibility managing the development of large global projects.

Today, Mr. Bumstead's interests are in the guitar manufacturing and the grass-roots movement of product modification and personalization. Individuals close to him will tell you that he wholeheartedly believes that a culmination of his past experiences has put him on the path that he is on today, which is developing and bringing to market first-in-class electric guitars that people enjoy to play and are proud to own.
